Mentor Position for Senior Construction / Project Manager
Looking for A Senior Construction / Project Manager Mentor (Part Time)
The Windmill Development Group is a visionary real estate company dedicated to transforming conventional development practice using the triple bottom line approach of people+planet+prosperity. Based in Ottawa and Toronto Windmill is active in community scale and urban infill projects in Ontario.
Windmill is currently developing a mixed-use building in the Queen West area of Toronto in joint venture with another developer. The project is an innovative 10 storey mixed-use building with 2 stories of commercial space (retail and office) and 8 stories of residential condominiums above with 74 units. The rezoning is complete, the residential component has been 100% sold and the design is in the working drawing stage. Construction is expected to begin in October of this year. A constructor (construction manager) has been selected and a Class B/C budget has been prepared.
We are looking for the right person to provide a strategic leadership role as a mentor to our Project Manager, who will be responsible for running the project on a day-to-day basis for the owners group. Our Project Manager is a skilled and responsible professional with previous experience on a complex residential project, who would benefit from a more senior professional providing advice and strategic direction.
We are seeking a senior construction professional with at least 10 years high-rise residential experience to:
- participate in finalizing contract documents and reviewing drawings for gaps and coordination issues
- participate in strategic discussions related to key early decisions in the construction process
- be available as “mentor” to provide oversight of the Project Manager throughout the construction process
This is a part-time contract position. It is anticipated that the mentor role will involve a time commitment of approximately 12-15 hours per month although more time would be required during the early stage for the initial technical review.
This position provides an opportunity for a senior (or retired) construction professional to work on a part-time basis, to share the experience he/she has gained in the industry with a strong and committed younger team and to participate in a “city building” project that is seeking to provide an innovative solution to mixed use sustainable design in Toronto.
